Salsa Bear Studios is a SF/Bay Area independent game company founded with a simple motto: "We put the 'grr' in to great games!". Salsa Bear Studios is bear-owned and operated. It will be among the first to release a bear-themed game for the LGBT community that also appeals to a mainstream gaming audience. The game industry, especially mobile gaming is in a time of fear and stagnation, and we are here to help change that.
At Salsa Bear Studios we believe in adaptive innovation. Creating new experiences within a context that is familiar for all level of gamers. As well as having a low learning curve for newcomers.
We believe in a simple phrase: "Accomplish Something". Inspired by a quote from a Head Developer for World of Warcraft, we strive to fulfill this by making sure that in playing the game, no matter what happens, the player should feel that you have accomplished something, whether it is finding enjoyment playing a game, to making an item, to simple learning something you didn't know before.
Our third belief is in maintaining a player-dictated gameplay time. There are a great many titles out there who want to keep players away from their game for long periods of time. We think that a user should be able to play for as long or as little as they desire without arbitrary artificial limits being forced upon them.
My name is Joe, I'm a scorpio, and I have a love of Disney. Now that we got that out of the way let's get onto other things.
I am the founder of Salsa Bear Studios and I hold a BS in Game and Simulation Programming from DeVry University. Originally its sole purpose was a sole proprietorship for the express purpose of producing non-academic projects and gaining professional experience for my resume. It has turned into a passion and its own LLC to provide quality, accessible games to fill a need in the market.
In my off time I like to cook, play video games, PC games, and board games. I also produce 2 online shows, Bailey's Action Blurbs and The Net Presents. In addition I am the co-host of the streamcast Vox Simian.
He's been known to slay the undead with his large sword while surviving on their souls, pilot a starship across the cosmos while shooting the disgusting humanitus out the airlock, and try to be less of a noob as a phoenix that supports his team. But that's just him in his free time playing great games. An optimistic programmer of languages such as C/C++, C#, Java and others he's set his life goal to make something that will take the time of a total stranger and make it feel it wasn't wasted. Even if he succeeds in that he'll continue to do that and more as he programs games, tools, apps, and more. All the while hitting up some nice parties along the way.
